Dr. Mark Ryser grew up in the Salt Lake area and is a second-generation oral and maxillofacial surgeon. He attended Brigham Young University for his undergraduate studies, followed by dental training at the University of Louisville, where he graduated summa cum laude in 2001. Dr. Ryser completed medical school in conjunction with postgraduate training at Louisiana State University in New Orleans. After receiving his Doctorate in Medicine (M.D.), he completed an internship in general surgery at Charity Hospital, followed by his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at Louisiana State University, one of the top programs in the country.
He is a diplomat of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and represents the state of Utah in the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery House of Delegates. Additionally, he sits on the board for the Western Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Dr Ryser’s residency provided extensive training and exposure to all facets of oral and maxillofacial surgery, including dental implants, dentoalveolar, orthognathic and temporomandibular joint surgery, bone grafting, oral pathology, and facial cosmetic surgery.
Dr. Ryser has received multiple awards at both national and international meetings for his research and publications in the fields of dental implants and craniofacial biology. He practices the entire scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with interests in dental implants. This includes recombinant bone morphogenetic protein grafting, complex CT scan implant surgery planning and peri-implant soft tissue augmentation. Other areas of special interest include orthognathic surgery as well as facial and peri-oral cosmetic surgery.

That passion led Dr. Ryan to complete a rigorous two-year pediatric dental residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. In 2008 he was awarded his Master of Science.
The pediatric dental residency provided Dr. Ryan with extensive experience in all facets of dental care for infants, children, and people with special needs. The program offered exposure to the latest techniques and technologies used in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of oral disease. It also taught operating room procedures, oral conscious sedation, and the use of nitrous oxide (laughing gas).
Dr. Ryan has been certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Basic Life Support (BLS), and CPR. Each year he participates in many continuing education courses. This ensures he remains current on advances in treatment strategies, techniques, materials, and technology.
